HIGH E-WASTE GENERATION
India has become the 3rd largest producer of e-waste after China and the United States. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, India generated 1.6 million metric tons of e-waste in 2021-22 : an increase of 18% from the last year.

IMPROPER DISPOSAL
More than 95% of this waste is handled by the informal sector where it is hazardously dismantled and disposed off. This is partly due to the lack of awareness and party due to the lack of accessible formal services.

ENVIRONMENTAL & HEALTH HAZARDS
Informal recycling practices in India contribute to severe environmental and health risks. Many studies have revealed heavy metal contamination, presence of plasticizers and other toxic chemicals in surface soils, plants, and groundwater due to informal E-Waste recycling workshops.
Our Process

Free E-Waste Collection
We will collect old smartphones and laptops from your home at your convinient time. Alternatively, you can drop them at one of our centers.

Repair & Re-Use
Once collected, parts from pair of similar smartphones/laptops would be swapped to repair atleast 1 device. Alternatively, certain working but unusable devices could be re-purposed to products such as dashcams etc

Dismantle & Recycle
Devices that cannot be repaired/re-used would be dismantled in a safe manner and sent to government authorised recyclers.

Donate
We are a not-for-profit organisation focused on solving e-waste management. All repaired devices would either be returned or donated to NGOs as well as funds from recycling.

Our Story
Hello, I'm Anuj Sinhal, the founder of EcoTech. My journey began as a curious teenager in Navi Mumbai, where my fascination with technology led me to explore the inner workings of smartphones and laptops. Inspired by channels like JerryRigEverything, I started repairing and refurbishing electronic devices. This hobby unveiled a concerning sight – the growing piles of e-waste in my home. Realizing the hazards these posed, from battery risks to environmental harm, I took it upon myself to make a change. Thus, EcoTech was born, a venture not just rooted in my passion for technology, but also my commitment to a healthier, greener planet. Join me in our mission to transform e-waste into eco-innovations.
